What is Kainos Project?

Kainos Project exists to create a community of voices that are eager to explore the new ways God wants to work in the lives of his followers and in his Church.

While we often must look back to move forward, our desire is to be a part of a fresh movement of God that reimagines how we understand ancient truths in light of our current realities and sees a brand new generation of Christians stepping into the abundant life that Jesus promised to us.

The Christian life is marked by a newness, rebirth, and fresh beginnings.

It’s a journey to become everything that God always intended for us to be. Not only as individuals, but as a people––a new humanity whose source is Jesus himself.

Nevertheless, we are often content to believe that Jesus isn’t the author of a radically life transforming faith, but rather the God of moderate life improvement.

Kainos is a word used in the bible to refer to something new. But it isn’t the only word. Another word is neos.

Neos refers to something new but only with respect to time. It’s a refresh, a reproduction of what has come before. Much of what we see in the theology and practice of the Church today is neos.

The language is updated; the branding is given an update.

But it isn't new.

It’s a complete reimagining of what has come before. Not disconnected from what has come before, but something with a radically altered quality and nature. It doesn’t forget or negate past moves of God but looks forward with a fresh imagination for what God can do today.

kainós //“new” or “fresh”

This is the kind of new that Jesus is referring to when he looks upon humanity and creation and declares,

“Behold,
I am making all things new.” Revelation 21:5
